Focus
Let's get grounded and rooted in prayer and spend time alone with God. According to Isaiah 30:15, "Quietness and trust is strength," strength we cannot obtain without God. This week, instead of going to everyone to discuss your fears, concerns, disappointments, health, finances, or life challenges, get alone with God and let Him direct your path? Feeling lonely or forsaken, are signs that you need to spend time in His presence. As you build your relationship in Christ, voids are filled in ways you could never imagine.
How do we do it with all of the commitments, problems and challenges we face? We make time for what we feel is important - people, places and things. Olympian, Sydney McLaughlin, hurdler and sprinter, who broke her own record at the Olympics, said to do it, she had to shut out social media and focus. When we know the goal, it is easy to prioritize. It is presumptuous to think because of your own spirituality, role, or status you have the luxury of missing time alone with God.
If your doctor gave you a prescription that you knew would prevent or minimize an illness, you would not miss taking it. Well, you have the best prescription of life! In His presence there is guidance, comfort, peace and wisdom. Remember, Adam was in paradise when he fell. Solomon had written three books of scripture and was considered the wisest man who ever lived, when he failed. Peter was the Apsotle that Jesus said, "On this rock, I will build my church; yet, at a crucial moment of Jesus' life, he too failed.
And, don't forget Lucifer, who had a name change because of pride and his desire to usurp God from His throne. He was the original praise and worship leader of heaven and eternally lost his way, never to retain a role in God's presence. Crisis prevention is time alone with God. Trade social media, phone, hanging out, TV, binge time, and prioritize your non-negotiable daily appointment. Spend first moments of your day in quietness, with Your Heavenly Father, your life will be transformed from darkness into His marvelous light.. May you be illuminated by the Spirt of Christ. May He be a lamp unto your feet and a light unto our paths.
